NAME Grid connection infrastructure for distributed generation systems

DESCRIPTION

The available infrastructure allows the validation of generation systems connected to the electricity grid. The system can operate in AC or DC and at different voltage levels. Energy can be absorbed or injected into the grid. The infrastructure includes tools to assess the technical feasibility of the power stages: efficiency, thermal regime, etc. It also allows the integration of rapid prototypes on simulation hardware and / or the real-time control system. There is a platform for the characterization of power semiconductors in real time, without the need for specific banks.

SERVICES OFFERED BY THE ASSET

Characterization (power converters)

Analysis and characterization of the behavior of SiC semiconductors on already designed converter prototypes. They can be characterized, dv / dt, working temperatures, overvoltages ...

Proof of concepts

Proof of concept for the integration of renewable energies into the grid using power converters with the possibility of adjusting working parameters.

Technical feasibility analysis

Study the feasibility of the electrical and mechanical requirements of power conversion stages. Fast converter sizing to assess thermal behavior, power density, approximate cost and critical active / passive components.

Training

Training in the use of platforms oriented to Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), virtual commissioning and rapid prototyping for power conversion applications. Development of simulation models and digital twin

Validation (control algorithms)

Development or integration of control algorithms on simulated models. Code generation and integration in microcontrollers and FPGAs.
