NAME Medium Voltage Laboratory

DESCRIPTION

This is a Medium Voltage laboratory that has two independent test spaces, each with a useful test development area of over 50 m2 and an independent control office to have visual contact with the test area to avoid any risk to people. Laboratory capacities: -Direct connection to the 30 kV distribution network -Development of 4 MVA with (1) 15 Vac levels between 690 V and 4780 V, and (2) Vdc between 930 V and 6450 V. -2MVA and 3MVA VRT generators. -2MVA motor and drive converter.

MOST OUTSTANDING EQUIPMENT AND COMPONENTS

  • 690 Vac VRT generators between 2 MVA and 3 MVA

    LVRT capacity up to 0 pu of 2 MVA and HVRT capacity up to 1.5 pu of 3 MVA

  • A drive motor with power converter to regulate the driving torque

    2 MVA power motor to regulate the driving torque

  • Electromechanical protection and switching systems

    Three cells (600 A/30 kV) in SF6, three ac switches (one 1200 A/12 kV in SF6 and two 1200 A/ 690 V), eight contactors (five 600 A/4000 V and three 200 A/4000 V)

  • Several ABB dry transformers

    Dyn11 of powers between 1 MVA and 2.6 MVA at 30 kV/690 V

  • Two Alkargo silicone transformers

    2 MVA 30 kV/2x690 V open D-secondary (two independent open D-secondary windings at the secondary). Together with a busbar cabinet, they are used to generate the 15 voltage levels mentioned in the description.

Transient analysis and validation of electrical machines and transformers for distribution networks with the capacity to develop powers up to 4 MVA and voltages up to 4780 Vac and 6500 Vdc. Technical support from specialized personnel is offered

Testing of power electronics systems under real medium voltage and high power conditions

Analysis and validation of power electronic equipment and prototypes capable of developing power ratings up to 4 MVA and voltages up to 4780 Vac and 6500 Vdc. Technical support from specialized personnel is offered

Testing of switchgear insulation for medium voltage applications

Validation and testing of insulation capacities of cables, transformers and devices requiring medium voltage insulation.
