NAME Energy optimization and management platform

DESCRIPTION

The asset is based on a hardware/software platform for the optimization and management of the energy of an infrastructure (tertiary buildings, industrial buildings, district heating/couling), energy communities and similars. The objective is to manage the generation, transformation and energy consumption under an holistic point of view. This management will be optimized based on both physical and statistical models that allow predicting the behavior of the systems in time horizons between day and hours. The key factors for optimizing demand management will be: • Optimize the operating modes of the systems to maximize energy efficiency • Adapt the consumption curve to the energy generation curve from local renewable energy sources • Use of energy transformation means to adapt production to the demand of the different energy vectors • Optimization of the economic management of demand to take advantage of more advantageous rates The platform consists of various interoperable modules so it can be used autonomously or as modules that are integrated into third-party platforms.

Related to the management controller, it optimizes the production of generation units (including storage systems): It determines the optimal participation in the energy markets and optimizes the useful life of the assets, thus being able to analyze the long-term profitability of the generation capacities.

Demonstration, training, evaluation (operation of district heating/cooling)

Related to the demonstrator of the optimization of the operation of district heating and cooling: Based on demand predictions, unmanageable production and prices, a multilayer control strategy optimizes the operation of both the generation means and the distribution network, reducing global consumption and / or system operating costs.

Viability study

Analysis based on historical data of the viability of use of the different modules of the platform, as well as their integration with the existing digital infrastructure
