EHiNA is an intelligent system for monitoring cutting tool wear, developed by IMH. Its main objective is to provide direct, accurate, and real-time measurement of tool condition during machining processes, through the analysis of process data (operation, material, tool, etc.), time series (energy consumption and vibrations), and images of cutting tools. The system enables the reduction of downtime, optimizes tool usage up to the end of their useful life, and supports maintenance decisions based on objective information, thereby enhancing efficiency and sustainability in advanced manufacturing environments.
Coordination through self-diagnostic cycles and communication with multiple numerical controls.
Local storage with optional cloud integration.
IPC Beckhoff C6032 (i7, 8 cores), with IEPE ELM6202 modules (24-bit, 50 ksps), and EL3783 power analyzer (3 channels, 16-bit, 20 ksps). Software developed in TwinCAT with a web-based HMI.
Signal processing implemented in Simulink.
Sealed camera with telecentric optics and dome-type lighting, equipped with an air-blow system for tool cleaning and a pneumatic shutter for protection. Universal installation on machining machines.
